Wagner 518080 Control Spray Max HVLP Sprayer
With the Control Spray Max, you can spray a variety of different paints, primers, lacquers, and stains. Use it to prime and paint cabinets, door trim, and decks, or to stain furniture, woodworking projects, and more.
The sprayer’s powerful two-stage turbine easily handles thick material like interior latex paint, while variable air pressure control (1.50 to 2.63 psi) reduces overspray of thin materials like lacquers and stains. Variable paintsprayerstools flow control allows you to transition from working with a large spray surface to more detail-oriented projects, like painting trim or windowpanes. The Control Spray Max includes a contractor-grade, 1-quart metal cup, as well as a 1-1/2 quart plastic cup for larger volume jobs like painting or staining decks and fences.
I was only painting a door and frame. I tried the different spray patterns and they all worked as expected. Since there were no “stops” I was curious about where to turn the spray head to get the desired pattern. As it turned out, it was easy. You could “hear” and “feel” the air change as you turned the nozzle. The spray patterns were fairly tight and over spray was minimal. After I was done, clean up was a breeze compared to cleaning brushes and paint trays. This sprayer is really simple and of course that’s the beauty of it. I had a Wagner mechanical sprayer any did not last long or work very well but this unit uses what amounts to a reverse vacuum cleaner. Blowing the air out and threw a 20 foot flexible hose. The spray head is simple and only has three parts. The air blower unit as an adjustable air pressure/volume control which allows you to just for your project and paint requirements. Painting intricate rails and latticework is a breeze.
I haven’t used this HVLP_Sprayer a lot, but so far I’m very impressed. I used it to spray some Zinsser 123 Bullseye primer in my bathroom and for some door trim. Even though the Zinsser is pretty thick, the Spray Max HVLP sprayer layed down a nice even coat without needing to thin the primer. The paint I’ve sprayed with it looks professionally applied (I’m not a paint professional). I’ll update this review at a later date, but so far I really like this sprayer. I’m so happy to not be rolling paint anymore! Clean up was easy too.
